2013 City-Wide Women's Conference:
Design by Nicky Amos
First Pres Women's Director Sherrie Lovato was inspired to create a new event in 2013.
She envisioned an event that would unify women from a number of area churches...
...a time and place to focus on our similarities instead of our differences.
"Strong Women, Soft Hearts" event chairperson Ali Tiegs and 29 women from the host churches served as a steering committee.
The first City-Wide Women's Conference became a reality in February, 2013.
We were blessed to secure author Paula Rinehart as our speaker.
Over 260 women attended the conference.
We absolutely loved Polk Street Methodist Church's new event facilities!
In addition to First Pres, sponsors included Polk St. United Methodist Church, Central Church of Christ, St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church and Buckner's Family Services.
Representatives from even more churches attended, as well as a number of women from Patsy's Place, a home for women who are transitioning after incarceration, and Martha's Home, a shelter for homeless women and children.

It may have been a glimpse of heaven - women of all ages and denominations,
a joyful atmosphere of fellowship and feasting,
a variety of beautiful music,
an atmosphere of thanksgiving and praise,
a gathering of saints of all types...
First Pres Women Nicky, Rita, Jane and Ashley may have enjoyed the planning and preparations as much as they enjoyed the event!
Do you agree the giant flowers are fabulous? A giant THANK YOU to Nicky and the equally fabulous decor team!
Kudos to Sherrie, Allie, Paula, the steering committee,
the decor committee, and everyone else who worked to make this first City-Wide Women's Conference a giant success!
